Lateral Restraint

The need for Lateral Restraint to structures is defined in BS 5628 and current Building Regulations. However, it is not uncommon for adequate restraint to have been omitted at the construction stage and therefore the potential for serious structural problems may exist.

Obvious problem signs include bowing walls and cracking which if left unchecked may lead to serious structural damage and may lead to the requirement for extensive rebuilding to be undertaken. The solution is to introduce a remedial system before the problem becomes critical. The chosen method must take account of base materials and utilise appropriate fixing technology to ensure adequate load transfer between structural elements. With a full range of support services including initial survey, diagnosis of the problem, solution proposal and installation, Broadlands offers a full range of restraint systems to solve your problem, be it for a Victorian Terrace or a Georgian Warehouse.
